In 1998, the College of Science and Engineering founded the Center for Advanced Technology attached to the College of Science and Engineering as an attached facility with the support of the government’s “Project for High Tech Research Centers” for private universities. In the two decades since then, however, society’s information technology has advanced rapidly, and the demand for information technology and the human resources to handle it has increased with each passing year. In order to meet the demands of the rapidly developing information society, we have founded the Center for Advanced Information technology Research as an education and research facility attached to the College to further promote the project-based information society and to develop a sustainable education and research center that returns the research results and human resources it has nurtured to society. The center will continue to work with the Center for Advanced Technology, which focuses on materials research, as the two pillars of the College of Science and Engineering’s research activities.
